Who's Next To Reign Balmain?

When Balmain's creative director, Christophe Decarnin failed to follow his collection onto the runway during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month rumour had it he had been checked into a mental hospital since January. Apparently he's not returning or to be a part of the AW11 collection, to be designed by Melanie Ward and the rest of the team instead (a role Emmanuelle Alt would be taking if she hadn't become the editor-in-chief of French Vogue in January). The point is, his last collection, SS11, is incroyable. Dirty, sexy, grunge - my favourite.

To help balance out the amount of high street I post, here is a (struggling to think of worthwhile adjective).. astonishingly.. (beautiful isn't the right word).. fierce Balmain jacket. The enviably edgy jacket retailed at $130,000 or £82,000. This crocodile most certainly did not die in vain.
